BLAZE CAPONEGRO, SR., WALL The
Shore Conference's leading rusher, Caponegro set the single-season
school record with 1,814 yards and tied a single-season school record
with 19 touchdowns. Caponegro, who has verbally committed to Temple,
also has the school record for career rushing touchdowns with 31. He is
second all-time at Wall with 2,750 yards rushing behind Kevin Hamill,
who ran for 2,866 yards in the mid-1960s. He had a school-record and
career-high 347 yards rushing and four touchdowns against Manasquan in
his final high school game, and he had five 200-yard rushing games,
including 211 against Central Jersey Group III semifinalist Ocean. His
266 carries this season were also a school record, and he averaged 6.8
yards per carry.
